I noticed Tivo Desktop software (TivoServer.exe) eating up CPU usage the other day (I believe when transferring files) at something like 50% of a Quad Core 3.0Ghz processor. That seems outrageous to me for a number of reasons...

I set the Activity Level in the Tivo Server Performance Tab to its lowest possible setting, in this case "Low (moderate performance)"
Why would transferring files on the network use so much CPU usage?

What exactly is Tivo doing to warrant this kind of CPU bandwidth?

Are you transcoding or just moving back a tivo file? -- btw. in addition to high CPU I also notice a discomforting high (and growing) memory utilization making me believe nobody tested it for memory leaks.

I guess transcoding? I don't know, does Tivo re-encode every file you transfer to it from an external source (.avi, .mpeg, etc)?

Still thought, using 2 out of 4 cores to max is hardly 'low' usage. I'd wonder if that setting to throttle back speed is even being used.
