I have had a buzzing problem with my tv set and posted the following on the HELP FORUM.
Please read thru this thread and let me know what you think.
There is also a S3 / HDMI issue that I may have resolved but the guys in the Help Forum suggested I post this message here as well
Thanks in advance

If the problem is fixed, why are you posting? I mean, it's nice to hear from people, but is there a remaining question to be solved? I hope the HDMI switch works smoothly for you.

my vote is it's a ground loop issue.
I'm not that kowledgeable- but first question would be are the tivo and the tv plugged into the same outlet?
Also what happens when you disconnect the cabletv line from the back of the tivo yet leave the tivo connected to the tv? If the hum goes away I think it means the cabletv line is imporperly grounded.
any electricians around?
also you can buy ground loop isolators from like radio shack and try those.
here's an explaination about ground loop problems (again not positive that's what it is- but certainly could be):

tv is in a wall outlet
tivo is in the same wall outlet, different pug

the cable lines goes from the wall to the TIVO then TIVO to the tv set. So if I disconnect the cable line I lose a picture
when I disconnect the Green connector the picture goes and so does the buzzing
any electricians around?
not licensed :)

ok
thanks,

You might consider getting a power conditioning strip. Most home's electrical current supply is "dirty". The strip might cure the ground loop problem without using an electrician.
It wouldn't be that hard to verify your electrical outlet has its ground wire (green) connected properly. But, if you do not know what you are doing with the outlet, then don't touch anything.
It sounds like you are using the speakers within the TV. Do you plan to eventually add 5.1 sound and external speakers? If the ground loop issue is with the TV, then disconnecting the internal speakers will make the hum go away.

What kind of TV is it?> The HP sets had a problem that would cause a Hum from the backlighting. As soon as the backlighting was put to 11 or 12 the hum went away.
