I've read the other threads, and want to know if anyone has found a signal booster for the Tivo wireless adapter for Series 3 units. I have a Linksys Wireless G network and don't have trouble with any other of my Series 2 Tivos which are on Linksys adapters.

There are often off-brand items, and I though perhaps there was something that plugged between the USB and either the Tivo or the adapter. I don't want to totally rework my network, as some helpful people who are more technical than I am have suggested to others. (i.e., setting up with a gaming router rather than the usual computer based one.)

Any ideas.

One easy thing to do is to get a pair of high gain antennia for your Linksys router. You just screw off the existing ones and replace them. You'll then have a stronger signal sent and better signal reception and it might make the difference. Frys and similar stores carry them and probably available from the net--they're Linksys products.

Another thing that sometimes works is to just reposition the router a bit so that the antennia point in a different direction. Try it a few times in various directions; you can also do this with the adapter in the TiVo by using short USB cable between the adapter and the TiVo and repositioning the wireless adapter. This can also impact signal strength at the TiVo.

I use both a high end high gain 15db antenna on my wireless access point as well as a signal booster on my WAP as well.

I don't know which wireless adapter you use for you TiVo, but some wireless adapters allow you to use different antenna's as well. If you can, I would use a DIRECTIONAL antenna pointed directly at you WAP.

In my setup. I put a high gain OMNIDIRECTIONAL antenna on my WAP, & use DIRECTIONAL antenna's on my devices. At least those that allow me to use my own antenna's.

I use Hawking Technology's High gain antennas & signal boosters and can get almost 700' in some locations and through reinforced concrete walls as well.
