I am getting ready to upgrade the hard drive in one of my Hughes DVR-40's and was wondering if there were any special specs for the hard drive. I will be using Instacake to program the hard drive.
Thanks!

The factory drive is a 40gb Maxtor/WD/Seagate drive, most likely. Any IDE/EIDE/PATA drive larger than 40gb would work.
Don't buy a SATA drive. Wrong interface for the DVR40.
As you can see from my signature, I've got both a Samsung and WD drive. Both do the job.

Just be sure the new drive is larger than 40GB (not too hard these days :)). A smaller drive won't image properly.
