I,m buying a Sony 52xbr4 tv and I have a Tivo S2, will my tivo work with this tv? I have a friend telling me that he heard, tivo will not work with this sony tv. Tell me he's wrong, please. I love my Tivo's!, and the Sony xbr4 is pretty sweet. I've been saving for one, finally saved enough and now he's telling me they are not compatable. Can't be without my Tivo's.
Thanks

Tivo is compatible with any TV. It's just that the S2 is not high definition, and as such will have fairly mediocre/bad picture quality on a big screen like that, particularly in comparison to HD channels. You'll want to upgrade to an HD capable PVR at some point.

I have a 52-inch LCD TV and a Series 2 TiVo. When I first got the TV my TiVo had been recording in "high" quality by default. These recordings were a little "fuzzy." I changed the recording default quality to "best" and it got better--even acceptable. I use the S-Video connection to get the best picture possible from the Series 2.
I also have a TiVo HD. Its analog recording is better than the Series 2 at "best" quality. I use HDMI for video and send audio to an AV receiver via optical cable.
I also have the TiVo HD deinterlace the 480i video to 480p. That seems to help get a smoother picture.
The Series 2 picture is good at "best" quality, but you might want to consider the HD TiVo as a replacement. The world seems to be going digial in a hand basket.
