Has anybody used both programs to burn TV shows to DVD and could give an honest opinion about which is better?

I tried VideoReDo the other day via the trial version and it seems pretty good and simple to use but I just wanted to know if anybody felt the Roxio program was any better. My guess is no :) but I wanted to check.

I'm not too worried about the ability to remove commercials or trim programs, I just want a quick way to move shows to DVD that somebody like my wife could figure out without too much hand holding.

Thanks,
Mark

Having the TiVo theme built into VideoReDo is a big (if technically useless) feature.

VideoReDo was well worth the money. I haven't once used the Roxio product since VRD got installed.

Try the commercial editing features, they work pretty good. But don't trust the Ad Detective feature to be 100% accurate. I've found that they can detect commercials great for something like a South Park episode, but they have trouble with other sources. I use them but I always double check.

I also quite accidentally found a feature in VRD I hadn't noticed before. The scroll wheel on my mouse is a 1 second skip back/forward. Makes finding the commercial breaks a little easier.

VRD is way better. I have Roxio Creator bundled on my PC. It always try to re-encode the MPEG stream, which is more time consuming. I have digital cable, and pull shows off of my S3. I'd say the digital cable's MPEG encoder is way better than that my $1000 PC can do, so I want to put the cable's original MPEG file onto DVD, instead of having Roxio re-encode.

Just for the purpose of editing the .tivo file to remove commercials, and burning to DVD, you won't find anything easier to use that VRD. They are also very responsive, I've reported a couple of problems in VRD TV Suite Beta, each time I got response very quickly, and they fixed the issues rigth away.

I too have both Roxio Easy Creator and VRD. VRD is by far, better, faster, easier. It has less features but it's built to do what it does and only that. It's very efficient and since I'm using a Pentium 4, the fact that it doesn't re-encode the MPEG is a huge plus!

Great answers. This helps me decide to dump the roxio and get Videoredo.
