I have an old Sony T60 that has recorded a show that I would like to transfer to DVD, preferably via my laptop. Can anyone give me step by step instructions, including cords I may need?
I notice that there is an option to save to VCR, but am not sure how that relates to saving to DVD.
Thanks,
keith

The "Save to VCR" option is really just playing the program, with some controls disabled.
You will need your laptop to have audio and video inputs. Most have audio inputs (the microphone jack) but few have video inputs. If yours doesn't, then a USB capture device is inexpensive - some are combined with a TV tuner and they come with software to record (the other thing you'll need). I have one from Pinnacle that does this. You will need a set of audio-video cables and possibly a cable that converts left/right audio using RCA plugs to a stereo mini phone plug.

Standalone DVD recorders are quite inexpensive now, so you might want to consider using one of those. You should consider one with a hard drive if you go that route.
