I have a TCD649080 - a dual-tuner Tivo with a single drive. Current drive is a Seagate 750gb DB35.2 hard drive.

It is plugged into the cable directly - no tuner box at all. I just see the lower 72 channels. Current cable is the evil Time-Warner.

One of the two tuners has the color all fudged up. People have purple skin, for example. The other tuner looks perfect.

I think one of the 2 tuners is simply going bad. Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before?

I have already tried to reboot multiple times. I replaced the internal cable that goes from the 1st mpeg tuner to the 2nd mpeg tuner in the unit. Doesn't change anything.

Any thoughts?

I've noticed the same thing.. weird color changes during a show, what's even weirder I went to the signal strength page and switched the transponders around and my tv went black and white on different transponders!! turned on the dvd player-color ok. back to tivo black and white -stopped after a minute. Does any one have any clues? hughes dv 40 software 6.4a.
Thanks

Yours is a DirecTiVo. (By the way....that's DVR 40. Not DV 40.)

The OP's TCD649080 is a dual tuner Series 2 TiVo. Not being a satellite receiver and getting its feed from cable, it wouldn't involve satellite transponders.

You two could have two very different problems.

For yours, I'd suggest the DirecTiVo forums here, since that's got a higher concentration of DirecTV subscribers and your help source will be pound per pound "larger".

What outputs are beings used? Whatever ones you are using, try the other ones.
