Okay I'm having issues with AVI's today. I have a whole set of Friends all avi files, and i have been using Videora to convert them, and has worked fine, however on some of them it starts encoding and stops in about 2 seconds with the error "invalid file type" so i drop the original files in the tivo folder and attempt to let Tivo Desktop Plus 2.51 ( came back to this version after the 2.6 and 2.61 fiasco)take care of it, and they show up on the NPL with a "transfer prohibited by copyright holder". is there something I'm missing?
they are from the same season, and some of them work and some don't?

Were they converted to the format in the AVI container using the same software?

Have no way of being for sure. I know they play fine on my PC so its not like the vids are corrupted.

AVI is a container and can hold many different types of video. Your computer may have codecs for all of them, but that doesn't guarantee that TiVo Desktop will also have codecs for all of them. If they didn't come from the same exact source, then you just have the luck of the draw. If it is important that they be transferable by TiVo Desktop, convert them yourself using a program that you know will produce a transferable file.
If you are getting them off of torrents, then check to see which posters are using compatible codecs and only download from them.
