After upgrading to TTG 2.6.1 on my 32-bit XP system, I noticed that my transfered shows were 480x480 when before they were 640x480. I originally thought my problem was with Nero Vision as I like to bring shows into it and do some edits and then dump it back out for viewing. I use Direct Show Filter Dump before doing the edits.

Anyway, Nero was showing the files as 480x480 when before 2.6.1 it had it as 640x480. I thought the problem was with Nero but it doesn't seem to be that.

I loaded up TTG 2.6.1 on a system running 64-bit Vista and found that transferring the same file over, WMP showed it as 640x480. WMP on XP has it as 480x480.

If I copy the Vista media file (640x480) over to the XP system it says it is 480x480 when viewed with WMP. I didn't expect this. Could it be a codec issue? Attached are 2 screenshots of the file properties. 1 is XP; 2 is Vista.

Thanks,

Kevin

You don't mention what TiVo you have. On an S2, I believe 480x480 is the best it will do.

480x480 is an original resolution for best quality

on an S2 you could get 520x480 if you used s-video connect to a dish receiver.

Non-DVD S2 Tivos (I believe these values are different with S3 & TiVoHD):
Best: 480x480, 5800 kbps
High: 480x480, 3500kbps
Medium: 352x480, 2600 kbps
Basic: 352x480, 1447 kbps

DVD Tivos:
720x480 for Best and High,
352x480 for Medium and Basic

Remember, the pixels need not be square. So 480x480 could be in 4:3 aspect ratio.

480x480 is expected, but 640x480 is not and must be some sort of codec issue.
