Some shows will not transfer from PC to Tivo

I have some .avi files on my computer that I want to transfer to my Tivo. Some are transferring and some are not. ALL of them are around 42 minutes each, all .avi files but only a few will transfer.

I did notice that on the computer that the ones that will transfer it shows information in the summary tab under preferences.. the ones that will NOT transfer say "Summary properties are unavailable for the selected source(s)."

The files still play on the computers, just will not transfer... are they corrupt in some way?

AVI is a container. Not a video codec format. It can contain numerous different video formats. Of which, tivo only understands mpeg2. Likely your AVIs that do not play are mpeg4, xvid or some such codec.

You will need software that can convert them before sending to the tivo. Pytivo, videorecode and tivodesktop plus are all options depending on your needs and abilities. Do some searches for those products here and read up a bit.
