Hi All, this is my first tivo, it was given to me by a friend, it has a lifetime subscription, I hooked it up to my tv and phone line, after setting it up, it dialed in, downloaded the program drive and everything seems to work, but the harddrive is noisy, which I understand may mean it is on its way out. This is a Philips HDR31202 with a Quantum Fireball lct 10 harddrive. I looked over the instructions for upgrading the harddrive and I have a few questions. I want to replace the existing harddrive with a single harddrive, since I fool around with pc-s quite a bit, I have a number of used harddrives, 30G to 60G, they are free so I could like to use one of them for now, any issues with this approach? The weaknees interactive tivo harddrive replacement guide looks straight forward, using MFSTool 2.0, any suggestions here? Will the lifetime subscription be transfered to the new harddrive?
Thanks

Tivo subscriptions are tied to the motherboard, not the drive. So yes, the subscriptions are maintained regardless of the hard drive used.

Also suggest using the winmfs program from mfslive.org.

Old drives of such capacity mean more possible failures and the need to start over when you decide to go with a 500gb drive.
