View Full Version : WD My DVR Expander is too Loud: Should I add internal drive with my Mac?

I just plugged in the My DVR Expander. It hums significantly louder than my Tivo HD- unacceptable. Is this normal? Does anyone know how I can lower it?

If not is there an easy way to upgrade my internal drive? I see the WinMFS tools are for Windows and I have a Mac- without Windows. Can I still do it without too much trouble? I am not very technical and am a little nervous about this undertaking. If I should go this route, can anyone recommend the best (quietest) 1TB drive to purchase? Also, would I need to buy anything else?

Thanks for any help. I was really looking forward to the plug and play ability of the WD Expander and am upset that it doesn't look like a valid solution to hard drive expansion.

Gosh, that's too bad. We were even giving some thought to a newer TiVo just to have the expandability. But if the drives are going to be noisy, forget it!
