The opening number was weak, but then I got a wish out of it... I was hoping for a nice smack at Rosie O'Donnell and of course Triumph the insult comic dog delivered:
Rosie O'Donnell tells Triumph that the stars were trying to sing a song, to which Triumph tells Rosie O'Donnell that the last time he heard sounds like that he was at Michael Vick's house :-D
Jon Stewart's promise to raise more than Idol Gives Back, ooops, wait, more than Flavor of Love gives back was a bit funny too.
Oooooh, nice little interaction with Larry David and Suzie :p :D Those two are such fun when they're screaming at each other
Hopefully a lot of money will be raised for the cause.

The show (what little I have seen) was OK but there were just way too many commercials. I started watching it a half hour after it started and was caught up in maybe less than 15 minutes. They would do a short bit and I mean a short bit like Hillary Clinton on the phone bit which was maybe five minutes long and then go to commercial. It was awful.

Yeah, the commercials were certainly in abundance, and as I kept watching this event I was all the more reminded of how good the original Comic Relief event(s) had been on HBO, but then again that was on HBO and wasn't needlessly censored.
For this 'concert' event (Night of too many stars) there weren't enough performances by the comics, and not really enough material demonstrating what the money was being raised for. The clips that were included on that topic seemed to be short and not enough to be memorable or really that inspirational :(
With the number of stars that turned out, they really should have gone longer and given more time for performances along the way. Rosie O'Donnell got a fair amount of time to perform her act, the George Bush imitation by Will Ferrell was given a decent amount of time, and yeah, the bit with Amy Poehler mocking Hillary answering the red phone was given a decent amount of time, but then that joke fell flat and drug on longer than it should have.
Given the repeated airing in the 10pm - 12pm time slot, I don't quite get why Comedy Central didn't just make it a 4 hour event (especially with all of their commercials). At least that would have given them about 2 full hours of time for the artists to perform in, and for reminder messages about what the money was going for. And really, the amount of time should have even more because some company with deep pockets should have dug down a little bit, paid a bunch of money to help air the event with limited commercial interruption and left more time for some more effective fund-raising and entertainment.
