I enjoy the various Law and Order shows, but is it just me, or in the past season or so has it, especially SVU, becoming overly gross? It seems that each week the type of crime and the detail of it becomes more and more perverted.
I no prude, but I'm about to give up on SVU all together, and maybe even the main show.

That's what happens when you run into thousands of TV episodes for this kind of show. You can't repeat yourself, so you have to go farther and farther out there to get a jolt.

I don't think that the original L&O is too gross, though it is overly sensational at times. I generally am not a fan of the "ripped from the headlines" episodes.
I gave up on SVU a while ago because it was just getting too weird. The stories were just too far out there and the characters seemed to be out of control.

I thought "particularly heinous" was major case squad, i.e. L&O: CI

Stole this form a Philosophy forum ?!?!?!
"In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad, known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories."

Oh. So none of the crimes are "particularly heinous" then. ;)
