I'm ticked that Lifetime declined to continue with this uplifting, intriguing program. I find Lisa Williams fascinating, and this was certainly original programming whether or not you believe she is gifted. It's obvious they axed the show as soon as Merv Griffin was no longer calling the shots, and it couldn't have come at a more inopportune time with her newly released book (which is a nice read, btw.).

Has there been any talk of another network picking up the show? I think it would be a nice fit on We (Women's Entertainment), or even Sci-Fi.

The fact that this thread has received no responses at all, other than your own bumps, over a full week, probably ought to give you some clue as to why Lifetime dumped it. Almost no one was watching it. And of those who did watch it, even fewer care that it's gone. Why would another network pick up a show that doesn't pay for itself?

Why would another network pick up a show that doesn't pay for itself?

Because it's not all about money. This was one of the most unique, inspirational, and intriguing programs on television, and like many shows before it, a lack of viewewship doesn't always equate to a lack of interest. I assumed this thread received no replies because nobody had an official answer. Not many are privy to inside knowledge of the networks, but a few are.

It's SNAKE OIL!!
This tripe has been debunked over and over and over again, yet somehow people still get suckered into paying attention to it. I just don't get it. I have to admit, it brings me a bit of joy when such things get canceled. Now, if we could only keep the rest of the pseudo-psychics off the air . . .

With all due respect, what evidence do you have that Lisa Williams isn't the real-deal? There is plenty of objective evidence to suggest she is genuine. Do you think Merv Griffin would have taken a chance on a snake oil artist? I agree that the majority of so-called "psychics" are fake, but Lisa is one of the rare few with a true ability to speak with the deceased.

It seems like you're a diehard skeptic, and those are nearly impossible to sway. Thankfully, it's not my job to do that. I would say that a program like this at least opened people's minds to a world beyond on our own, and how can that be faulted? Certainly "Life Among The Dead", even if bogus, provided unique material, which is why I continue my vigorous efforts to bring the show back.

When you criticize Lisa, I assume you've read her book? Otherwise, you really can't base a fair opinion on her life or abilities.

We don't need anything to "suggest" she is genuine, we need evidence to prove it. I've been following the field for over 50 years, and I've yet to see any credible scientific evidence* to show that any paranormal phenomena is genuine.

You make it sound as though being a skeptic was a bad thing.

But this is all topic drift and should taken somewhere other than TV Talk to be continued.
