Women lose. Corey puts up people that Gordon doesn't seem to be happy with. And neither goes home. Bye Sharon
I liked the halibut break down challenge. That's straight up skill/technique. No gimmicks there.

OK, foot-picker Jason, we get it- you hate women.

I'm a guy, so I generally root for the guy's team to do well, but it seems like every year, they have to show one of the guys saying something like "We can't lose to a bunch of girls!" during an interview. It gets pretty old. Who cares what gender the other team is, it's not like that seriously affects their abilities to cook. I wonder if Jason thinks he's a better cook than Rachel Ray, Giada, or any of the other famous women chefs, just because he's a man.
The men were being a bit obnoxious in celebrating their win, but I thought the women showed no class in trying to get lobster juice all over them as they were leaving.

I can't stand reality shows that do Boys vs. Girls competitions. At least Hell's Kitchen mixes it up halfway through the season.

I don't know who is more annoying -- Jason or Jen. I want to see them both gone. Or just to shut the H3LL up.
I really don't like the Boy Vs Girl competitions either. How about East vs West? Or North vs South, based on where the competitors come from?

I really don't understand why Ramsey shut down the place. Considering how bad things have been in the 2nd episode of previous seasons, this may actually be a talented bunch. Sure, the women were a little behind, and their "assistant maitre 'd" was purposely holding back tickets so as not to "overwhelm" the kitchen, but the guys had all of their appetizers out, and were working on entrees, which is more than can be said for a lot of previous seasons at this point. I think he jumped the gun on the shut down.

I simply attributed his premature shut down of the kitchen to surprising improvement that men had. It simply didn't make good TV when things are running well in the kitchen, doesn't it? :)
The men broke the cardinal rule in HK, you are not supposed to be running like a well-oiled machine (they didn't look like it but they WERE turning out dishes quickly) only second week of the TV season. :D

Well, it sucks that the girls lost because they didn't get out as many entres as the men...when that one chick wasn't even turning in orders. She wasn't even giving her team a chance!
And like 2 seconds before it happened I figured Ramsey wasn't going to choose either of the nominees. I didn't like that. Someone would've eventually put up Sharon so she could go home, I'm sure. And even if no one EVER put her up, he's the one the picks the winner in the end anyway. I REALLY wish he would've sent Jen home.

Ramsey's done this before. I think he actually takes the challenge seriously, and won't settle for kicking out one of the better contestants early, only to keep a weaker player. He wants a strong winner at the end, so he's ignored the nominations before.

I just dont' think Jen is actually one of the stronger cooks, so I don't think he'd be losing much by voting her out. She's the cold chef anyway...they don't carve many watermelons in Hell's Kitchen.
So far all of the contestants are coming across as buffoons. I can't believe that Ramsay will let any of them run his fancy new restaurant.

I have always felt Gordon has used the pick 2 people as a way to measure their ability to see who is the weakest link in the kitchen.
By picking two stronger people, you screw yourself twice. One is Gordon will over-ride you, he has done this before, and secondly, he now questions your judgment and ability to judge what others are doing in the kitchen.
I don't know how anyone who has ever seen the show could have made such boneheaded picks.

Yeah it was pretty stupid of her to pick the one person that he singled out as performing the best that night. Her reasons were inconsequential when you think about it. Ramsey doesn't care if somebody hurt somebody else's feelings... obviously. He's made grown men cry on national TV. Me thinks she watches too much Survivor.

Imagine how different this show would be if they had the contestants from Top Chef. They always seem to be orders of magnitude better than the people who get picked for HK.

Yeah, like I said to my wife, the winner will be "Chief cook and bottle washer" with emphasis on the bottle washing.

Isn't the person he singles out as the best that night the one doing the picking?
I agree that she had poor reasons for the people he put up, and I expected him to just fire the woman that was out of the floor.

I like that Gordon overrode her picks. Shows me he's taking this seriously.
I've said it before.....all you have to do to survive at least a few weeks on this show, is being able to cook a proper rissoto and some scallops. The girls winner won because she cooked good rissoto.....

I thought I did see beef wellington on this episode. I saw one of the women in the back corner making it, although the show didn't mention it. Maybe she didn't screw it up, meaning Ramsey didn't have an excuse to rant and scream.

There was a beef wellington comment, it was directed towards one of the guys, Gordon was chastising him for not cutting it quickly enough, or something to that effect.

Why do they chop off the ends of one of those things -- was it beef wellington?

off of a beef wellington? Because the end is nothing but the puff pastry or other bread. It can be kind of doughy.

Ok she stated her reasons for picking each girl so at least we know why she did it (personal reasons etc). But wouldnt holding back orders be at least slightly in her mind ( or even gordons)? I thought that was pretty bad because it would make 'real' people leave the restaurant before they even got a chance to eat the raw fish. But i guess he had different priorities plus i guess she was good IN the kitchen.
I do think it was cute how she said she didnt want to inundate the kitchen. BUt um...well..even 'I' have seen in diners the tickets lined up on the rack waiting for the chef to cook and know it's the cooks job to get them done not worry about me loading them up. Not good to 'baby' your team for sure.
did anyone noticed a middle aged woman with dark hair and glasses? i think she was helping the women but am not sure and i saw her more than once. Was she taking the place of the cook the girls lost in the kitchen?
oh and that guy who continually picks on women...lets take him out where there are no cameras and play the video back for the women to see. Men like that disgust me and i feel i have to apologize to women for him. He looks 'relatively' young to have that 60s attitude of women in the kitchen thing.

I think you are referring to Gloria, the sous chef (it was Mary Ann in previous seasons)

Yeah....her team could have been thinking they were sitting pretty not knowing that she had 10 tickets stuffed in her pocket!
It seems like getting picked by Gordon to "work the front of the house" is almost a ticket for immunity as long as you don't just royaly screw up.

I have to agree here.
I have not seen one person this year that has real talent let alone let them run London LA.
Where do they get these people?

Seriously? This season's contestants look like they couldn't work in a diner let alone one of his named restaurants. This is the first year where so far, IMO, no one deserves to win the prize.
Hell... *I* could cook better than what I have seen so far and I have never worked in any kind of real kitchen before except at home.

To be fair, when Ramsey asked them about their experience, she bragged about being able to carve his face into a watermelon. I didn't just pull the watermelon comment out of nowhere :p
