Hello, thanks for stopping by to give me a hand.

What I have is an HDVR2 I've hacked with 6.2 Icake and PTVnet 6.2 and I'm trying to get the USB 2.0 drivers installed for Trendnet TU2-ET100. Is there a way to install these drivers without using 6.2a and the zipper hack? I would like to install the drivers by FTP server if I can. If this is possible where do I install the drivers and how do I get them up and running? I would use the 6.2a and zipper hack but I'm having a lot of troubles getting it installed. I did get the 6.2a installed but had no network at all with 3 different usb to lan adaptors so I reinstalled the 6.2 hoping to get the USB 2.0 drivers installed the other way.

Thanks for your help and time

It's quite easy. Drop usbcore.o, usbnet.o, and usb-ohci.o from jamie's backport package (2.4.20 versions) into /lib/modules via ftp or whatever (backup your originals of course), and then make a symlink to usbnet.o named ax8817x.o, ie : cd /lib/modules; ln -s usbnet.o ax8817x.o and reboot.

Ok cool. Sorry but I don't know linux at all, I'm a PC user. How do I go about making the symlink usbnet.o?

Well I have it up and running with the new drivers installed and work perfect. It looks as if the Trendnet TU2-ET100 is faster than my D-Link DUB-E100. I bought both of these adaptors at the same time because I wasn't sure what would work with the Tivo. I'll keep the D-Link back for the other Tivo I plan on buying in the very near future. The sad part of all of this is the D-Link was $4 and the Trendnet was $25 and the D-link installed right away. I quess I should have bought 2 of the D-links but didn't know if it would have work with the Tivo.
