View Full Version : How long does it take to get the teletext fix?

After upgrading our main TV to a sony LCD we have ended up with a toshiba in the bedroom that has never been connected to the Tivo before.

It's connected via RF and every now and again it crashes, turns off, and then back on again with no picture and won't respond to the remote. Given it only does this on Tivo I'm assumed this was the teletext bug and rang CS for the upgrade. They agreed, and said they would contact the US and that it should happen in a few days or so.

This was the Thursday before Easter - given easter fell in the way I've not chased but as of tonight (12 days) it's still not upgraded and it's driving me mad as I'm trying to watch something upstairs :-)

Should I have the update by now - or should I chase it tomorrow?

It should have happened by now...
Have you checked the system info page for any pending restart message.

Also have you got an upgraded drive, and if yes which size?

Check you programme version as it may have happened and it was not the cause of the fault.

software version 2.5.5-01-1-023 (I don't think this has changed...)

Not seen a reboot or a pending restart msg.

I'm expecting an "a" to appear in the version number - is that correct?

Standard Tivo - no upgraded drive (so bog standard kernel).

There should be an "a" in the version, mine took less than 3 days, although that was a few years ago. I would ring them again.

Silly question but check the daily call has worked.

Ok, just rung CS - spoke to Ian who confirmed that the request had been sent on 20th March and also confirmed that my Tivo hadn't upgraded :-(

Apparantly he is going to go and kick Billy who set it up and chase it with the US :-)

Hopefully it'll appear real-soon-now(tm) ;-)

just checked and 10 hours after requesting it for the second time I have 2.5.5a :D:D
