This happened twice to me yesterday -- my cable card install isn't until today but I re-arranged all my home theater connections to "prefer" the HDTivo.
To get some content on it, I did some transfers from my still-connected S2. This started per normal, and I queued a bunch of transfers over. I went to watch some live TV while this happened and I got nothing -- just a black screen.
When I hit the Tivo button, I found I had a working Tivo UI but the background was all black, no background color/image. I had one program actually recorded and it didn't play -- hitting play resulted in an all-black screen, and hitting the back arrow got me a "Do you want to delete this?" prompt as if I had reached the end (2 hour movie I'd watch 5 mins of, nowhere near the end).
I ended up going to Settings and software rebooting the Tivo and the problem was solved -- until later on, when I switched the video output from "Native" to 720p fixed -- same deal again. The were no more transfers taking place at this time. Again, a reboot fixed it.
What does this error state indicate? Should I be concerned, or is this just a newly enhanced form of bugginess I should get used to?
This is a brand new box with an upgraded (bought that way from DVDRUpgrade) HD. No cablecards installed yet, just vanilla analog cable on the CATV input and a hard-cabled gigabit ethernet connection.
