Ok so I have found an answer to why many of us cannot record the program "John Adams" from HBO on Demand, and also, why you only get it for 24 hours if you are recording it. I think it only applies to HD recordings, but I am not sure yet because I have not tried to record any of the shows on the regular HBO channel. Anyway, read all about HBO's assault on our right to watch a show whenever we want at the following website:

I'm not having any problems with HBO and KUID, using Comcast in SE PA.

I don't see anything in that FAQ about 24 hours. I think it's misflagged by a cable provider or whatever flag it has is being misunderstood by TiVo in the regions where this has been reported.

EDIT: I recorded it last night as a test, but haven't actually looked at my TiVo to see how it responded.

No problem recording it, and still have all episodes saved on my tivo so far, using Charter Communications in NC

Maybe I'm missing something but I recently switched from HR10-250's (DirecTV HD Tivos) to FiOS and Tivo HD's. I love the box and all the functionality, however the guide data no longer states "first run" or "repeat" at the end of the description. What I do notice is at the very end of the description is has some key info, i.e.:

(CC,Stereo,Letterbox,R)

Does that "R" at the end signify a repeat or something else?

Thanks,
-Ed

Yes, the ''R'' indicates repeat.

I figured that the problem was that you were trying to record from an On Demand channel.. and not the regular one (or the HD one).

I've got 2 episodes on my S3 (I screwed up Episode 1).

Makes sense. On Demand is, indeed, for watching "on demand", not for watching later.

Remember that the content owner has always had the rights they're asserting now. It is the abuse of those rights, by miscreants in our society, that has prompted them to do so.

lol, thanks, and my apologies to the OP. I thought I was starting a new thread, not sure what happened there. Wasnt an intentional thread-jack. :)

No you can't record it from HBO ondemand in HD or SD.

YOU CAN however record it DIRECTLY from HBO, or HBO HD regular not on demand station.

Although, even if you do record it from the normal non-ondemand HBO HD channel the copy flag is still set to 0x02 so you can't MRV/TTG.

How is HBO offering a show on ON DEMAND an "assault to your rights" to watch a show "whenever you want".

Isn't that the definition of "on demand"?

Haha! :D
That's a excellent point!
I think that's great way to end this thread...

Just wanted to let everyone know, that I recorded the show in HD tonight ,Charter Communications, NC there was nothing about it being deleted after 24 hours, no locks or anything and I was able to use keep until I delete option. So whoever received the 24 hour option must be in a test market for that or something

Have not had that problem with Comcast of Alexandria, VA.
I have watched, stopped, came back a few hours later, continued watching, saved for later and watched again with no problems at all.
Seems more of a local issue than anything.
