After a long and laborious process to even get a working M-card, I still can't seem to get this working right.

I have a Motorola Mcard in a TiVo HD box. I also have a Comcast DTV cable box.

The box gets all premium channels I'm entitled to. The CableCard does not. I've called Comcast several times and spoken to different people. They've sent auth signals to the boxes, and I saw the box cycle through, but nothing has changed.

Do you think it might be that only the box is entitled to those channels, and I'd have to pay extra for those channels on the CableCard?

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Thanks

S3 or TiVo HD?
The S3 can only use M-cards in single stream mode, so you'll need two of them or two S-cards for dual tuner capabilities.

On second look, it's a TiVo HD.... my roommate misinformed me

Poke around in the CableCARD menus on the TiVo ... you want to check the authorization status of the card (on my SA cards it's labelled CP Auth). Make note of the Host ID and CableCARD ID on these screens. Then call your provider and have them "hit" the card and give them that information.

Make sure they have the Host ID and CableCARD ID in the right places ... I once had a Brighthouse rep accidentally switch them so one of my S-Cards worked but the other didn't.

Also, you've got the M-Card in Slot 1, right?

yes, i have the M-card in slot 1. I've been dealing with Comcast all weekend to no luck.

I told them they probably need the Card SN and the Host ID to get this working, but according to them, all they need is the Card SN. I kept trying to have them enter the HostID somewhere, but it was futile.

They've scheduled another appointment (which i'm sure won't fix anything). It's a good thing I'm a student and not working and can deal with having to schedule three appointments for a simple cablecard set up

My technical assessment - Cablecards can be "screwy". Don't spend a lot of time hitting the card with auth signals - simply replace the card. I had a similar problem with my S3 - not receiving certain HD channels. Replacing the card fixed it.

Like someone on the forum suggested, I used the online Live chat tech support. They were able to fix the problem immediately. Perhaps that speaks to the quality of phone reps versus the online reps, but the guy who helped me, Jorge, was great.

I asked him exactly what he did and this is what he said:

Jorge: I sent a reset initialize hit to the cableCARD. It resets all previously saved settings and refreshes all services.

I've asked three or four phone reps to hit the cablecard. i guess none of them even ever did it.

Thanks to all those who helped out!
