My tivo just restarted and when it came back on there was a different opening scene.

The software is 9.2a-01-2-652

Is this software new? That's weird if it is old, and am I just now getting it.

The 9.2a software was released last October/November. A new update (9.3 ??) is expected soon. TiVoPony said that update would fix bugs, although we don't know which.

9.3 is rolling out now to (at least) the Series 2's. I don't think we know yet whether or not it will also apply to Series 3's. (9.1 was for both, but 9.2 only showed up on S3.)

It would appear that the 9.3 update has started to make its way out to the Series 3s. I happened to notice a smaller font being used on my "To Do List", so I checked my version, and it's apparently been updated to 9.3.Y3.somethingsomething. Days ago, it was at 9.2.

I didn't get any message indicating that my TiVo had been updated, nor any indication of an automatic system restart, so I restarted it manually, but the intro has not changed, like I had heard that it would with this update.

That would be 9.3.Y3-01-2-648 specifically.

5 of my boxes rebooted today. the TiVo HD boxes show 9.2a-01-2-652 and my three Series 3 boxes show 9.2a-01-2-648.
I wonder why those boxes rebooted if the software version is the old one?

They are all on UPSs that give them several hours of run time during a power outage. And my server wasn't affected which is also on a UPS that provides several hours of runtime.

There must have been some kind of update. I noticed a bug when I first got mine last year. When in the Now Playing List - HD folder, if I pressed the "2" button, the Tivo would reboot. That quirk is now gone.
