Box displaying "cr01" "cd01" "td01" etc

Just at around midnight tonight (the 3rd day I've had comcast tivo), my DVR box seemingly shut off. The video is black and the remote doesn't do anything (although the box is getting the signals, the LED indicator lights up when I press a button).

The weirdest part is that the box is displaying strange codes in a looping fashion on the front display, first it starts at "cd01", then "cd02", then "cr01", "cr02", "cr04" and then it displays the correct time, the screen flashes for a second, and it starts all over. Occasionally it also shows "td01" and "td02"... it's strange.

At first I thought it was a software update so I let it go, but it's been a half hour now and it's obviously looping, so I'll probably just try to manually reboot it and see what happens.

Anyone else experienced this?

Quick update: I tried holding down the power button and nothing happened, so I unplugged it for a few minutes, plugged it back in, and the codes came back but this time after about 2 minutes it booted up and now seems to be working just fine.

I've had this happen a few times in the month I've had the TiVo service through Comcast, though it has happened twice in the past two days, same exact scenario as you.

I wonder if they are doing something that is causing boxes to hang and/or reboot, or if the service is getting worse before it gets better.

I am pretty close to reverting back to traditional DVR, trying to hang on to see if the magical software update will make things better.
