Ok, so I am missing some HD channels. TWC came out and installed the cable card, but when I questioned why I am missing some of of the HD channels, TWC tech support tells me that they are slowing switching to sending out channels by request of the cable box, and you guessed it, the HD TiVo box can't send out those requests. It's there a work-around? Will there be an update to the Tivo box?

thanks

Here is the thread I read and posted about it in, there are links in that thread to other threads talking about the switch (sdv)

You can't get the SDV channels until your cable company releases a tuning resolver box and TiVo releases software to support.

There is a press release from 5 months ago saying they should be available by 6/30.

Kinda makes a HD TiVo a less than optimal solution now, if you live in an area with SDV or getting SDV.

Ok folks, generally I'm happy with the box. I was just surprised at the absence of a few of the HD channels. I'm curious of this is consistent in other TWC markets.

I'll stick it out and see what we get, as I was generally VERY unpleased with those darn explorer HD boxes TWC supplied that I had to rent.

So far Time Warner Mid-Ohio (Columbus Ohio area) hasn't used SDV yet. We just got some new HD channels like A&E HD, NGC HD, HGTV HD and some sports channel and I can get them all with my Series 3. Hopefully the "Tuning Resolver" will be out around the time they do decide to go to SDV.

I am with TWC in Durham, NC. When I went with the TIVO HD and cable card I fully expected to lose some HD Channels and I did not, yet. I am certain it is coming however, just a matter of time until they move some channels to SDV. I think it is entirely dependent upon the market you are in. Right now I am getting all of my locals in HD, NGCHD, AETVHD, HGTVHD, TNTHD, ESPN, ESPN2, MOJO, HDT, HDNETMovies. Those are the ones I can think of off of the top of my head.

the channels that use SDV are not consistent across geographic areas and some are waiting for the SDV dongle fix before deploying SDV.

Also there can be a misconfiguration on the cable co side (between billing and authorization of channels for you) that keeps you from seeing channels as well.

I would explore those threads and see if you find info specific to TWC and your geographic region to be sure it is SDV issue.

You can try calling the cable company as well, though it may take a few calls to get the right person. IF it is SDV then they most likely will offer a free cable box or be talked into free use of one of their DVRs so you can at least watch the SDV channels in some form
