I ordered one of the "TIVO REWARDS ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGE" from the Rewards program for 120000 pts on March 6th. I got it from UPS today. It came with a pink sheet of paper in the box saying that it was already activated and to plug in and enjoy. So I did, but the service was not active. So I called customer service and explained what happened. The rep acted like she had no idea what I was talking about when I said that the lifetime sub was part of the reward. She said she didn't "see" that and that I could purchase the sub for $399. I explained the offer to her and suggested she check the rewards website to see for herself. After spending 30 minutes on the phone with her, she said she escalated my case and that they would refund the 75000 point difference.:mad::mad: WTH???? I don't want the points!
Has anyone else had this problem?
Of course I could use the points to order two hd boxes and sell them on ebay and use the proceeds to purchase the lifetime sub, but what a hassle!!
Any suggestions?
TIVOJERRY!
Seriously though, thats weird, I just checked the site myself and it clearly says "with Product Lifetime Service" if they can't see it and see that you actually "bought" the package using your points, I don't know what to say...

If what you say is true though they should just give it to you...weird. Only suggestion is to wait for one of the tivo guys to read this, pm them? or call back and talk to someone else.
edit: don't worry about referring people anymore, the program ends soon.

The slippers are gone....
They told me I'd have an answer by Friday. I checked on it today and no resolution yet...:down::mad:

No wonder the rewards program is going away...I don't think I would want to get any of my friends on board for this crap...and I don't think I could influence people I don't like to get on board...

Hi
I too have had problems with the Tivo rewards program.
I ordered one of the 60gb Video Ipods. It arrived quickly enough but within one week of using it there were problems.
The Ipod kept turning itself off. I called Tivo who were about as much help as a motorbike to a goldfish and they told me it was down to Apple, nothing to do with them, call Apple. So I did. Apple took note of my serial number and informed me that my Ipod was three years out of warranty!! I told them it was two weeks old but they didn't believe me.
After much arguing Apple got to the bottom of it. Apparently Tivo bought 100 Ipods over three years ago and have had them in their grubby little hands ever since. When some unsuspecting trusting soul like me orders one they send out a three year old Ipod, out of warranty, with me being unable to extend the warranty through Apple because it ran out three years ago!!
What a piece of work Tivo are.
Thank God for Apple who agreed to replace my broken Ipod (albeit with a refurbished Ipod because they no longer make that model).
It used to be that Tivos customer service was superb but now it seems like they couldn't give a damn. They got me off the phone so quick it made my head spin. They were so keen to pass the blame on to someone else when in truth it was their fault for holding old stock and passing it off as new.
I am cancelling my Tivo credit card and won't bother to take part in ANY future promotions they do, I just don't trust them anymore.
I hope this is a warning to anyone else thinking of getting an Ipod from Tivo.

UPDATE: They activated the lifetime sub Friday. Only took five days... Funny thing though, when I look at my account online it shows that receiver as "lifetime subscription, TiVo evalutaion unit" . When I go to my account screen in the TiVo itself, it says my service is "evaluation" , not lifetime and has a expiration date 30 days from now. I'm hoping I don't have a problem in 30 days.
Either way, how hard is it to send a memo or email to customer service telling them about this reward so that others won't have to go through what I went through????
Sicklizard,
Customer service has gotten a lot worse. It seems like every time I call, the reps can't answer my question and it gets "escalated", which basically means: give us five days to figure it out...

I tried that, but since they had already issued a "case number", they told me I had to wait.

I can probably explain that one for you... When I won a TiVo with lifetime, it was put in under the same lifetime plan you have. It won't go away BUT... You can NEVER transfer lifetime from it to another unit if you ever qualify like they did with the S2 to S3 Tranfer special they ran. I tried, and because my unit was "Eval", I was SOL... Just be prepared to have that until until the day it dies for good... If you are ok with that, then just Enjoy!

Huh??? I won my TiVo in 2001 or 2002... I've got no problem with my Eval Subscription, I have accepted the fact that I will continue to use my S2 untill it dies. At least I DID have a S2 that qualified and was able to get a TiVo HD :)
No other choice but to be ok with it...haha. Glad it worked out, enjoy the new tivo.

That definitely makes sense. Thanks for letting me know. It doesn't bother me one bit that I can't transfer it. These units last so long that I know I'll get a long time out of it.:up::up:
