I have a Tivo series 2 and a comcast cable receiver, Tivo does not change the Comcast channels and if connected to comcast box I need to watch the same program comcast box is on. I am wanting to know if there is some sort of component or software to turn tivo into a comcast receiver and run it as its own standalone tuner totally seperate of comcast box.

I'm a little lost on what you mean when you say "Tivo does not change the Comcast channels".
Are you saying the cable box is feeding picture and sound into the TiVo, but the TiVo isn't changing the channels on the cable box?
The TiVo (Series 1 or 2) needs to use either an InfraRed blaster or a serial cable to control a cable box.
Traditional TiVos have cable-ready analog tuners, but can't get scrambled channels or digital channels on their own.
The only TiVo that can become its own cable box (without an insane amount of modifying...and I mean INSANE amount, if it's even possible) is the Series 3 or TiVo HD.
Those have slots for "cable cards", which allow the device they're in to tune cable channels, including digital cable channels (if you have digital cable).
You have to order the cable cards from the cable company, and likely pay a monthly rental fee.
