Ok, but it's been a few years since I've done that, but I guess getting $5 for Unbox is worth it. Thanks.

Is it a $5 amazon gc, or just unbox credit?
I don't use unbox at all

I got mine via email and the code does not work....very odd. It ends with 2 *'s which is funny.
The formatting of the entire email is not good, all very strange.
Anyone else having trouble?

I got an e-mail saying all the cards are gone. Oh well ...
They sure make you think it is only for Unbox (my bold added for emphasis):

This message was sent to you because you or someone in your household requested to receive this special offer from 2009 Toyota Corolla through the TiVo® Showcase Menu authorizing TiVo® to send you an email.
Don't delete this message. You'll need the gift card claim code below. You may want to print a copy of this message for easy reference later.

But I was able to apply it to my Amazon account and leave it in the account for some other product.

I just entered the code as it came in my e-mail, but stripped off the two *s from the end. That worked just fine.
If anyone doesn't want to bother with their code, please feel free to send it to me in a PM. :)

This is the e-mail I received:
Thank You for Watching the 2009 Toyota Corolla TiVo® Showcase! Unfortunately supplies for the $5 Amazon.com® gift card* have run out for this week. But don't give up yet! Check back with the 2009 Toyota Corolla TiVo® Showcase on March 27 when additional Amazon.com® gift cards will be emailed to the first 5,000 viewers who respond to the offer. The "from" name is Toyota Corolla. I almost deleted it thinking it was Spam, but I ended up opening it on my Blackberry and could see the text referring to the TiVo showcase menu.
I can confirm that I was able to just redeem it to my account without buying or renting any Unbox content.

One flaw with that...
Best Buy is running a $50 gift card promotion for each person who purchased an HD-DVD player from them through February 23, 2008. You are eligible for a $50 gift card for each player you purchased withing the qualifying period. Most gift cards should be mailed automatically, otherwise call them at 1-888-BEST-BUY (1-888-237-8289) if not received by May 1.
I wonder if I watch the new showcase if I can get another $5 card? I wonder if they are checking against the older database of respondents.

I clicked the link on each of my Tivos just to see what happens even though I got my $5 in the first round.
Did anyone actually watch the video? I just went straight to the money.
yea, I watched 'em (thre of them in total)
I used my $5 GC on a regular Amazon order. Cool.:up::up:

Thank You for watching the recent TiVo® Showcase! Unfortunately in our excitement over this great offer, some inactive Amazon.com® gift cards* were inadvertently sent. We will issue an active code within the next two business days.
We apologize for any inconvenience the inactive code may have caused. For details about Amazon.com digital downloads, please visit:

I got that email too. I thought it was odd because it's apologizing for sending out inactive codes and that they'd send new ones. My code was good. Unless they plan on sending everyone a new code, why don't they just send the e-mail to the ones that got bad codes to begin with?

I receive the “Sorry” message also. I think what happen is that so many people click on the send code button that it overwhelm the server. This did not go the way it was plan, so now their ending up having to send everyone a code. Also, I don’t think very many view the commercial. A better way to have done this would have been to broadcast the commercial and place a thumb-up near the end of the commercial to receive the code. That way you would have to view the commercial to receive the code. I just gave TiVo a new way to advertise, my bad. :D

I originally got a working code.
Then I got the apology letter about that bad codes
Now I got a second working code with another apology for the previous bad code.
If they choose to send me a second code just because they don't like the first one they sent me, that's their decision.

Although I enjoyed getting two free $5 gift certificates, I'd highly advise anyone to stay far away from the Corolla. My old one burst into flames and it was later determined to be a design flaw. I was at a red light when my radio started sounding funny and suddenly a bunch of smoke came rolling out the hood. A minute later there was flames about a foot high and the fire department even had to put it out!

Not to mention the older codes could be canceled, seeing how they are still active for days to come it is like ordering from a site knowing it a price mistake and still getting the item shipped to you. It would be different if you e-mailed TiVo and said your code wasn't working when it really was. Just my .02.
