View Full Version : Music Choice: No Kids songs?

I can't find anything recent on this .. but since the last round of videos expired .. its like there is very little to be found.
For example .. in the Kids Hits section (or whatever it is called) there have been just 2 videos listed for awhile. What happened? And what ever happened to grouping stuff by decade? (60's, 70's, 80's, etc...) ?? Its next to impossible to actually locate stuff in the current format (what little there is). I find myself searching on "A" and then "B" (and so forth) to try to see what is there. But if I recall, it only shows up to 50 listings. I'm fine with doing that to save bandwidth, but why not have "Show Next 50" at the bottom?
I'm used to Tivo making things easy to find .. this implementation is far from that.

Well alright.. I'll be a good TiVo fan and just sit and wait for good stuff to happen. But that's a big build up.. hope what is to come doesn't disappoint.

That sounds like really good news. I'm looking forward to all kinds of new stuff.
TiVoStephen, is there anyway of requesting a certain video you would like to see up on music choice? For example, my favorite band paramore is releasing a new single and the video hits mtv monday. The Song is "That's What You Get".

I can't promise anything, but I'm happy to pass on suggestions to the Music Choice folks. Feel free to drop suggestions here on the forum.

*bump*
Stay tuned... Some good changes around in the next few weeks.
As its now been 3 weeks .. I was hoping for a more up-to-date time estimate .. :)
We're still at only 2 kids videos .. no decade grouping available to search by .. and simply a lack of a lot of decent songs ..
I've got a gang of 2 year olds who would *really* enjoy having "Crazy Frog" back ... :)

Sorry for the delays. If all goes well, we expect some new categories for you towards the end of next week.
There are currently three "Kidz" videos; I'll see what my Music Choice contacts say about adding more.
Best regards,
Stephen

Thanks for the update .. and WOW! A 3rd song for Kids!!! Sweet .. :) We need all those Laurie Berkner songs back!
I'll be looking forward to the end of next week then .. hopefully there will be content in these new categories .. not just the categories themselves ...
But hey.. I recognize that this is a work in progress.. But since its *live* .. I hate to see people turned off by it and have it go nowhere ..
*keeping my eyes peeled*

BRAVO TiVo (And TiVoStephen) ... I may offer my share of (constructive) criticism .. but I also give credit when you step up .. new categories are in.. (with days to spare) .. and there are a bunch of new songs ..
Amazingly enough.. what we've moved to is now a problem of the UI not displaying all the songs (rather than there only being 2 or 3).. As an example.. I had to manually search for "Crazy Frog" .. and saw that it was in 3 different categories.. all of which I missed because they only display 50 items .. had I not thought to manually search for it .. I would have never known it was there (And yes.. its an annoying song, but until you see 3 two-year-olds dancing to it .. you have no idea how much fun it can be).
Anyhow, I'm still putting in a request for a <More> option to be at the bottom so you can see an entire category (I get not flooding the system with the full list.. though frankly I doubt they'll ever have so many songs that it would be an issue in the Genre areas .. (maybe on the browse for song if you typed in a single letter..)
That .. and of course .. like everyone else, I'd want more songs that I like... Strange.. no Laurie Berkner came back... oh well... kids love her songs..
Enough of the complaining... this was a "Well Done!" post.. Thanks Stephen

I just found this feature! Apparently I've been asleep at the TiVo, since it's been out for months.
Anyway, I agree about the searching. It's hard to find things in the list, and they don't seem to always appear in the categories they are set in. Can we get a way to browse the entire list alphabetically or something? Alternately: Is there any place that a full list of currently available videos can be downloaded/looked at?
Also, can I set the TiVo to play more than one song at a time? A random function for the Music Choice folder maybe? I'd love to set this up to play while I'm working, but right now I have to go back and reselect after each vid finishes.
Thanks, I've gotten a bit of info from the threads, but can't seem to find answers for those ones.

Hi Tegan,
I just updated this thread with the full list, which is alphabetical:

We don't (yet) have a way to play more than one song at a time, sorry.

I love the optimism (re: "yet") regarding a possible future enhancement. I'm looking forward to it! :)
Stephen - While that huge list of songs is obviously quite a nice resource to have given the current limitations of the UI .. I was wondering if you could assist even further by making it a bit less cumbersome to view.
My request is that you post a break down sorted by category (and yes, I know some would be cross-listed) .. and also "uncategorized" if such songs exist.
As I know you understand (based on your post(s) in the other thread) .. different people have different tastes .. and odds are that no one needs to read all of the songs. I'd estimate that I'd even only *recognize* 30-40% of what is there. So narrowing it down by category (and being able to see everything *in* that category .. which of course the UI doesn't currently provide) .. would be great.
Thanks for your continued support with this product.

MirclMax, that's a very reasonable request, but unfortunately at this time the system I use to pull the list of videos available doesn't have access to any category data. Sorry.

Well get those engineers working on a better system! :)
Thanks for the reply.

I'm looking at that "(yet)" as hope for the future. Thank you for the updated list! Is there a place where this will be posted/updated regularly? If I keep checking that thread, will you keep updating the list?
Thanks again!

I'll update it when it changes significantly, or if people request an update, or if I remember and have time, or each time the Cal Bears win a football game -- sound good?

Um. Ok. Go Bears?
It's really useful to have an on-line list. You ought to consider making it possible to select downloads from the TiVo website, like you can set up shows to record. Maybe have a clickable list on the website, updated whenever the videos get updated, so folks like me can go on-line, click some vids we want to see when we get home, then viola! When we get home to our TiVo we can watch 'em.
Heck, I'd use an on-line list even if I was working from home that week.
Just a thought.
Thanks for the quick response.
