After nearly ten years of being a devoted TIVO prostelitizer, I've finally went over to the dark side. While resisting the change at all costs, my switch was hastened by (a) free everything with no commitment, (b) very inconsistent local reception, and (c) a future with limited HD channels.
After three weeks of usage, the HR21 isn't that bad. While if definitely is not as functional as my HR10-250, it does gets the job done. There are actually some pretty neat features including a psuedo jump loop that shows the four most recently viewed channels. The old Sony Tivo's used to have a similar feature and i really have missed it! Don't get me wrong I miss my old Tivo, but it is easy to rationalize with all the HD content i have been paying for but not seeing!!
One thing I do not like very much is the postion of the buttons on the remote (although i do like the fact that the remote is RF!). I could run the Tivo with my eyes closed, but the HR21's button locations just do not seem as logical and the non peanut shape is less user friendly.
Is it possible to buy a Tivo remote that is completely programmable...i.e. teach it the HR21's buttons? I know I could get a Harmony, but a peanut would even be better. This would greatly enchance the dvr's usablity.
Thanks.
