Should I buy the MyDVR Expander or just upgrade the drive myself? How long does the upgrade process take?

I decided to do the internal upgrade. That way, there's not more clutter around the TIVO. I upgraded my TIVO HD with a 1TB Western Digital drive I bought for $219 at BB last month. I downloaded WinMFS, and copied drive to drive afetr I had deleted all programs from the TIVO. It took less than an hour, including removing the drive, attaching both drives to a Windows XP machine, copying the drives, and installing the new WD drive in the TIVO.
I consider myself pretty technically oriented, but I'm sure others would give you an argument about that.
I also have the original drive as a backup if I need it in an emergency.

Well I know I could do the upgrade. It's just that I did the same thing for my DirecTiVo about 4 years ago and it took a long time and was pretty buggy just getting the online scheduling stuff up. And I had a lot of issues with the enabling the USB ports. But I guess with a TiVo HD box a lot of those things wouldn't apply.
Can please you post the link of where you downloaded the software and instructions? I'd rather go with your recommendation rather than something I Google up.

You can download WinMFS and get directions on how to use it here:

It's a great program, and makes the upgrade simple. Read through all the directions before you start, and research anything you don't follow.
