I have a Directv Hughes HDVR2 receiver.
I have been having problems with the unit rebooting and pixelation problems.

It was suggested that I replace the harddrive

So I went out and bought a Western Digital 320GB drive

I just want to copy everything from the old drive to the new drive and be able to take advantage of the extra space
I have Windows XP so I didn't want to put the drive in this computer and muck it up

So I put the new drive in a older computer removed that computers hardrive so only the new one is in there.
FDISKed, Formatted the disk with FAT, even installed Windows 98

Shut down the computer and put in my old Tivo drive that is dying (HDB)and the new one (HDA)

booted the weakknees cd
typed mfsbackup -ao - /dev/hdb | mfsrestore -xpi /dev/hda

It does some stuff then gives me

Source drive size is 40 hours
upgraded to 126 hours

Uncompressed backup size is 111,3444 Megabytes

Restore failed : backup target not large enough for entire backup by itself

weakknees #1 of 111344 megabytes (0.00%)

The old TIVO drive is a Western Digital drive that is 120GB
the new drive is a Western Digital 320 GB drive

What am I doing wrong and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks

Are you using MFSTool 2? If so, that may be your problem since MFS Tools 2 only allows drives to be expanded once - and you've already done that when you went from 40 GB to 120GB. I believe WinMFS is more flexible and will let you expand the drive a second time - see here for more info http://www.mfslive.org/
