My favorite, ep, ever. And I've been watching Dr. Who since the mid-70's, so that's saying something. :)

I rewatched Blink this morning. The best Doctor Who episode, start to finish, ever. I like it as much as I like the DS9 episode The Visitor.

Yeah I loved this episode as well. The angels kind of creeped me out a bit.

Blink's my second favorite after The Girl in the Fireplace (which makes me want to weep just thinking about it). Steven Moffat is a god.

I loved Blink as well. I'm just now starting to get into Dr. Who after getting hooked on Torchwood.

I concur, an excellent episode! Girl in the Fireplace was good too as was Human Nature and Family of Blood.

Probably my favorite of the new incarnation. Also a great intro episode for those who aren't regular viewers of Doctor Who. All you need to know is that he's a time traveler who uses a police box.
Girl in the Fireplace was also one of my favorites.

I agree whole heartedly, fabulous episode! <blink>

Yeah, a coworker (who's from the UK, btw) told me about the episode - it's great.
My only question is... if "not looking" at the angels counts when the lightbulb goes out, at the end, the only thing keeping the angels frozen was the fact that they were looking at each other. However, if the power goes out or the bulb burns out, won't that mean that the angels get alive again, since they're not permanently frozen?
Oh, for Dr. Who fans - the TARDIS is flat-packed, Ikea-style (http://gizmodo.com/363461/doctor-who-outed-as-secret-ikea-shopper-as-tardis-brought-to-set-flat+packed). Maybe that's how they get all that space out of it.

Very good point! Next time it is on I'm going to record it for my dad, I know he would love it!

I watched it again this week too. Could possible argue cheapest effects for the whole series, but it looked wonderful. And as said before, if you loved this one, then Girl in the Fireplace is probably another favorite for you.
I have been watching Dr. Who since the 70's as well. Looking forward to the new season.

If you're not freaked out even a bit during the last scene of "Blink", then there's something wrong with you. :)
'fun stuff.

Nope. They actually spent a lot of money stabilizing the actors playing the statues.

I loved this episode when it was first on. (So much so that I realized no long after deleting it that I really wanted to keep it around to rewatch)
So I made a point of recording it again just recently, but I haven't had a chance to rewatch it yet.
Looking forward to it though.

Well, the angels could see in the dark well enough to find who they were attacking, so maybe they can see each other in the dark.
I was wondering how the doctor knew what was going to happen to the leading lady in the opening sequence. If he was watching her, why didn't she see him? If he was watching the angel, how'd it move?
(I tried being vague so as not to spoil it for anyone.)

As one mentioned earlier they may be able to see in the dark. But if not, it might be a way to bring them back.

+1
There was a scene at the beginning that I didn't notice the first time. She is looking at a statue, and turns around (not looking at it anymore) and passes in front of the statue (between the status and the camera) and when the status is in view again, the pose is different. BLINK was a great episode. I came away from this season thinking that Martha Jones was great, and most of the episodes that season were very good.

Thank for this thread. I downloaded this one because of this thread and just got around to watching it. Fantastic.
I think the only mistake was showing the Doctor when Billy was sent to 1969. I don't know why they felt the need to do that. I guess because he's the star of the show and they wanted to put him on screen before the end. But it's really Sally's story. Cut that scene and it's practically perfect in every way.
I'm so happy they didn't CGI the moving angels. That would have absolutely killed it.
I gave up on this show after about six episodes of the Eccleston era after realizing I was forcing myself to watch just because it was Dr. Who, but I wasn't enjoying it. Did I give up too soon? Or is it sort of hit and miss?
If it's hit and miss, what are the greatest hits? I've already noted "Girl in the Fireplace".

Well, I have enjoyed all of the new series Doctor Who, though I have enjoyed the David Tennant episodes more than the Christopher Eccelstein eps. I must say my favorite one has to be season 3 ep 12 "The Sound of Drums". I really enjoyed that one but before you watch it you should see the previous episodes especially ep 11 "Utopia" since ep 11,12, and 13 are basically like a trilogy.

According to IMDB, episode #4.9 is written by Steven Moffat.
Moffat also wrote Blink, The Girl in the Fireplace, The Empty Child, and The Doctor Dances.
(Not to mention every episode of Coupling, which is brilliant.)

this came on again the other day, and i made my wife watch this (her first Dr who episode) ..
We are NOT allowed to put a statue in the house. It was fun though, my 3rd play through.. I like how the "You can hear me, of course I can hear you!?" worked during both iterations...
