I am having a massive brain fart. I can't think of the name of the show. I enjoyed watching it and don't remember seeing it on aire in the last year or two. One of the people on the show ended up dieing. He was a manager, smallish guy. Him and his female imployee always got into arguements, although I think they both liked each other a lot.
What was the name of this show?
Did it ever come back on for another season after the death of the manager guy?
And was there any final word on how that guy died? Was it a suicide?

found it. It was called "American Casino".

Does anyone know if the show made it into mulitple seasons?
oh and it listed the managers death as accidental drug overdose.

There was 2 (that I can think of)
American Casino was on Discovery/Travel Channel. It was one or two seasons... and did have a couple of episodes after Michael Tata died after an accidental overdose.
The Casino was on Fox and was on the running of the Golden Nugget after it was bought by a group run by 2 dot-com executives. Only lasted one season...
Main difference between the two - American Casino seemed more "real-life" and not staged; compared to The Casino.

The Casino on Fox was entertaining, but it was so incredibly fake. I didn't even know about the other one.

Ahh....the good ol' days of discussing American Casino. Do a search on here for that or Michael Tatta (or was it Tata) and you'll find some great threads.

There were some great discussions about American Casino, weren't there? Those were some of the more memorable discussions I've had here.

No wonder I felt like deja vu reading this thread.

Yeah, American Casino was much better. The Casino couldn't seem to make up its mind whether it was a documentary or dramatized reality show or what. And American Casino had much more interesting people. I miss Ninya. And the guy who made his apartment into the ultralounge just cracked me up.

JC1K all the way, baby! :D
American Casino WAS a better show. I even once wrote GM Joe Hasson and told him how I liked his management style. He responded graciously.

The Casino on Fox was a trainwreck, but it did introduce me to the music of Matt Dusk (http://www.amazon.com/Back-Town-Matt-Dusk/dp/B000NA273A/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1204996027&sr=8-1). His latest disc, "Back in Town," is great, if you're into the genre.
A book about the dotcom guys taking over the Golden Nugget is coming out in a little more than a week. It's called "Double or Nothing: How Two Friends Risked It All to Buy One of Las Vegas' Legendary Casinos (http://www.amazon.com/Double-Nothing-Friends-Legendary-Casinos/dp/0060835834/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204995853&sr=8-1)." My pre-order on Amazon is already in. Despite the "reality" show, it's a great story.

They sold the Golden Nugget shortly after the show went off I think though, didn't they?
I will definately have to check out the book, as the story is much more interesting than the show was.
As for American Casino, it is too bad that Tata's overdose destroyed the show. It was a really good show. One of the best behind-the-scenes reality shows going.
Every time I am in Vegas I crack up when I see the Jockey Club. By the way the guy who had the JC1K Ultra Lounge has written a book or guide to vegas. Like a Little Black Book to Vegas for Men or something like that. Also wrote one for Women too. I know this because it came up on some horrible show on E! where they followed a household of tramps around Vegas.
Don't forget Shamu Chad (or whatever the h*ll his name was). You know, the guy whose special party trick was balancing a drink on his head? And he liked to get wet for some reason? Ah, good memories.

Yeah, but even as silly as that was, it still felt like he would have done that even without the cameras there. In "The Casino" it ALWAYS felt like they were just doing stuff for the cameras.
Oh, and the theme song on AC was awesome. I found a Dread Zeppelin CD that has both the 1-minute TV version and the full 3-minute version.
