When I checked my list of copied stuff I noticed a movie ad that doesn't have a means of deleting it. It is in hi def no less. What kind of nonsense is this? TIVO is not a free service but this is an example of taking advantage of customers by sending a signal to TIVO an ad that becomes permanent and takes up space.

How do I get rid of it and how can I prevent this in the future?

I've never seen this, but I couldn't agree more. I know I'll catch h3ll for saying it, but I bought a premium box, for a premium price and pay a premium fee each month for TiVo. I hate that I've got to be subjected to ads on every screen, no matter how unobtrusive.

Wow, a thread about advertising on Tivo, we haven't had one those in a few days, I was getting bored.

Any video that is recorded for the "Goldstar" ads on a Tivo is recorded to a pre-reserved space on the Hard Drive. This space was NEVER allocated to your recordings and does not take away any future recording space.

The ads never really bothered me for some reason and I'm usually quite sensitive to stuff like this. I've always had enough hard drive space though that I was never worried about losing anything I wanted though and I guess that makes a huge difference. Hell, I even watch them from time to time. As a matter of fact, there's some swimsuit thing on there right now that I've tried to watch twice that won't play for some reason... Maybe I should complain about that?!? :D

Folks should learn what the terms and conditions are before they buy things.

Make sure the spouse is home, that is usually what keeps me from that kind of content.:D

Do you have anything useful to add or are you just trolling?

It should make it ok since you and him agreed to it when you bought the Tivo. His whole argument is that Tivo is recording ads that are taking up space that his recording could use. That is simply not true. Please try to add something that is constructive. I've read about all of your posts (although very few) and I've found that you have had nothing useful to add whatsover.

It's taking up space that would have been available for his recordings had it not been reserved for ads.

It's taking up space that is dedicated to a facet of the service that was identified in the Ts&Cs when he signed up.

In fact, I bet if he takes a look at the System Information for his unit, the number of hours of capacity reported is greater than that advertised on the front of the box.

So, TiVo actually gave him, and you, more than what was paid for and still there are complaints?

I thought in another post, you were giving your 32K per month to another company????

Decide to keep your Tiv??

I have never heard of a Gold Star ad recorded through Teleworld being in HD. If so, this is great news.
