Right now I have Direct TV Satellite Total Choice Package. I do not have a HD TV, but after watching the Daytona 500 at a friends house, I have to get one. I like Satellite and don't want to switch to cable if at all possible. I have 3 HDVR2 tivo units. I want to keep the same amount of recording capability (6 channels) if at all possible. While it would be great to go out and buy everything all at once, I have a feeling that my wallet isn't going to be able to handle buying everything at one time.

So will my HDVR2 and Total Choice Package still work if I get a HD TV?

Yes, they will still work.
But for SD material only

You probably want to keep the same amount of recording space, too, betcha. If you truly are a noob, realize that you will also need 5-6 times the HDD capacity. Of course if you get 3 HR2x's to retain 6 stream capability, you're well on your way toward the space requirement as well.
