View Full Version : Add lifetime later?

Right now I have two series 2 boxes. One is on a one-year prepay, expiring in Oct. The other is MSD at $6.95/mo month to month. I'd like to get an HD box to replace one of the S2 units (don't need 3 tivos really).
So, thought was to swap out the one-year prepay for the new HD tivo. If I do that will I be able to add lifetime later, when the prepay runs out (assuming Tivo still has the offer)? Or am I better off just getting lifetime now and having 3 boxes for a few months?
Also, what's the best "deal" on an HDTivo right now?

What if you get the THD now with lifetime and get a friend or relative hooked on Tivo with a "free" unit for the next few months?

I suppose if I were generous . . . .
I think I may be being cheap--I'll be paying $399 for lifetime no matter what, so it's irrelevant that I have another prepay plan--what I get in service from that I lose in the length of the "lifetime" service. So really I probably should just enjoy an extra tivo for a few months and rehook myself.

Are the S2 units DT? I can't see how you would need more than 2 units since the THD is DT. For years I used single tuner units and the THD really change the way I used the Tivo (because of the dual tuners).

Yep--they're both DT. I agree--2 is plenty with MRV. We just don't need that many TVs and Tivos, at least in our family. One in LR, one in BR, and one in office (small, without tivo).
Maybe sis-in-law wants to try it out.
