Ellen Page was nominated for an Oscar? Seriously? She can't act. I've only ever seen her on SNL and her Oscar clip, but wow. I didn't see anything from her.

Watch Hard Candy. Then watch Juno.

Then come back and tell us what you think of Ellen Page's acting ability.

Ellen Page was fantastic in both of those movies. Her SNL appearance didn't really showcase much of her talents.

People still watch SNL?

Juno was awesome.
Haven't seen Hard Candy yet.

I take it her face moves in these movies? She seemed stone faced in every skit on SNL.

She looked REALLY uncomfortable in the live stuff. She looked much more at ease in the digital short. Some people just don't do well in front of an audience.

Haven't seen Hard Candy yet.I TiVo'd Hard Candy after seeing Juno and was really impressed and disturbed by it. I agree she was not comfortable in front of the live audience doing material off of cue cards.

There are some actors who do very well on the big screen because subtlty is magnified and nuanced performances can be appreciated. Broad comedy is a completely different skill set. It makes you really appreciate the Phil Hartmans and the Kevin Nealons and the Darrell Hammonds that can blend into so mnay characters in a single show and make it look pretty easy. While they have not gone on to big time fame like Bill Murray or Billy Chrystal, they still have great talent.

As far as Miss Page...you know some of these hosts are brought in not because they will excell on the show, but because they will bring an audience.

Ellen Page aside, the show pretty much sucked.

Quite a contrast from last week. Tina really left a void.

She and kristen wiig should have a contest to see who can look at the cue cards and recite the words without moving the rest of their face for the longest period of time.

Three words...

Mary Kay Place.

Some people just aren't suited to live TV.

But the short, "The Mirror" was hysterical. :)

Juno is the best movie I've seen in quite awhile.

Ellen Page's SNL appearance was damn near unwatchable. I didn't even like Weekend Update this time. Just horrible. I don't think she was the problem.

She's pretty young too. Doing live work is a lot tougher than being able to do take after take. I think she is pretty talented, but yeah, she didn't do well on this.

I'd watch her hug a lady with her legs any day!

The whole show was abysmal from the first word through the sign off. Just embarrassingly bad.
If this is the best they can do I would fire the whole lot of them and start over next season with a fresh, hungry crew.

The episode was weak, but Ellen Page set the tone. From the first minute she was out there on stage, I was wondering whether she was on meth or something. She couldn't stand still and had this weird head-bobbing thing going on during the whole show. And I've seen athletes host the show and do better "characters" than hers in skits.

How about Hillary's appearance? That was amusing ...

And Fred Armisen does a good Obama.

Wilco was great. Really great. Best musical guest in awhile.

The rest of the show: Kinda weak.

I got a few laughs from the sketch about the girl who's just getting home from a Melissa Ethridge concert. I thought that was Ellen Page's strongest live bit on the show.

I hope it gets a LOT better if Obama becomes president. Right now his voice is REALLY off. And more importantly, the Clinton appearance was pretty awful. Nowhere near as good as the Huckabee appearance.

Surely, you can't be serious?

Think the impression needs work -- to me just seems like him in an Obama costume. I like Poehler's Hillary better... And really enjoyed the Poehler and Hillary together -- although not NEARLY as much as last years (?) Tony Bennett / Alec Baldwin...

Outside the opening sketch, epsiode was horribly weak -- especially dissapointing after a strong episode the week before.
