I have to S-Cards installed in my Tivo HD. They've been working fine for the past three months, but now the second card has lost its ability to decode channels 30-213, while the other card is fine. If i reboot the problem is only avoided for a few minutes until it returns to the same thing. Any suggestions? New card?

Similar problem. I have two S-cards in an S3, and they have worked fine for over a year. Today I can't tune 290-301. I get the cablecard pairing screen when I attempt one of those #s. But all the other 200+ channels (including many HD & pay) work fine. And our other S3 works perfectly, and can tune these channels.

I'll call them in the morning. (Comcast Houston)

It's weird because it seems none of the channels above basic and HD are viewable on one of the tuners, but it's fine on the other one. Maybe comcast disabled encoding for channels on one card, but is this even possible? I hate calling comcast about cablecards because they have no clue what they're talking about most of the time...

That may mean your cards aren't properly paired. That would be the case if copy protection (CCI of 0x02 or 0x03) was applied to those channels, but not the ones that work fine.

Can you tune to any other copy protected channels?

His problem sounds identical to one I had last weekend. It results from an upgrade that Comcast is doing in Houston. One of my three SCards was never paired and it did lose channels within that range. Two or three hours after I called the CC line and gave them the pairing info I was back in business with a good validation. Unfortunately those restored channels came with CCI=0x02.

Sounds good, but does CCI limit recording?

Sounds good, but does CCI limit recording?CCI 0x02 doesn't limit your ability to record. It limits your ability to download recordings to your PC and other TiVos.

You can't do the following on recordings from channels flagged as CCI 0x02.

Connected to TiVo using a standard web browser. Use your TiVo's IP (as seen under Settings -> Phone & Network) as the address.

Thanks for the info. I will call today.

How do you tell what the CCI info is for a specific channel?

How do you tell what the CCI info is for a specific channel?Click INFO on a recording from a channel. If it is copy protected, the TiVo will tell you.

Tune to the channel and then go to the cable card conditional access screen or the diagnostics screen and look for the CCI byte entry. You have to be sure you are looking at the proper tuner; this is easier with the diagnostics screen.

Things are still not stable. Three channels that were 0x00 yesterday are 0x02 today. They are all in the 292-301 range, excluding 299. When the byte is 0x00 the CP Key is disabled and when it is 0x02 the CP Key is enabled.

I have somewhat the same problem.
I have 1M card on the THD and if I tune channel 340 I get the Cable Card information screen and cannot change the channel. I then press TIVO and then LIVE TV and get put back on Channel 340 but without a picture, I can then move to a different channel. This started up on Sunday March 2nd and it had not happened before. I am thinking of just taking the channel out because it's only Shotime and I get the HD channel anyway...

I called comcast today and apparently there is only one cablecard on my bill, they canceled the other one when i called about a second outlet overcharge. I tried to ask for a cablecard specialist or to speak to their supervisor/higher tier but the guy told me they couldn't do anything and I had to schedule an appointment for friday. Hopefully they add the card properly, wish me luck!

Just to chime in...This also happened to me on my TiVo HD 2 weeks ago. I have two TiVo HDs (one in the living room that is hooked up to an HDTV and one in the bedroom that is hooked up to a standard-def tv). I have 2 single-stream Motorola cards in each TiVo HD. Only the TiVo HD in my living room was affected. I lost a block of premium channels (HBO, SHO, Cinemax, etc.) on CC2. On the lost channels (200-289), I had a dianostics/pairing screen that told me to contact Cox. However, all other channels worked...even the premium HD channels. CC1 was not affected and worked perfectly. I called Cox and asked if they could send a hit to CC2 in the living room. After they sent the hit all of the channels came right back. So far, everything has been ok. Also, not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but losing the channels on CC2 happened shortly after I remote scheduled a show from tvguide.com. That was the first and last time that I remote scheduled a show.

Quick update. I called and had the cards repaired last night. The CSR said allow 24 hours, and sho'nuff, they now work again.

Good news! Comcast came today, took both S-Cards out and installed a new M-Card. Installation took long but now everything works + i'm paying less :)

Have you checked the CCI byte on all the restored channels?

I'm in Brenham for the weekend, I'll check on Monday when I get back.

OK. The ones that had 0x02 slapped on them when they were restored to me are 292, 295, 297, 298 and 301.

Yep, me too. I have no idea what they were before, as I can't recall ever MRVing them. But they are now.

However, most of the pay channels aren't 0x02, but are 0x00. So I can TTG/MRV StarzHD all I want.

Since (one would think) they would be far more inclined to protect the movie channels than DiscHD, this leads one to the conclusion they haven't the slightest idea WTF they are doing.

Ain't it the truth? Were these the only ones with 0x02 in the Standard tier?
