I just got my new Tivo and I have an older PVR (Scientific Atlanta). I am wondering/hoping about transferring some of the saved shows from the old PVR onto the Tivo. Can this be done?
Thanks all.

No. Tivos only can transfer files with other Tivos that are active, on the same account, with the same media access key, have transfers enabled, and are on the same network subnet.

You can't do it directly but if you can get the recordings off of the old PVR onto a computer you can transfer them up to the TiVo using TiVo Desktop or some other similar server.

Could you try using Leaf Networks to make a virtual network per say and just have a ton of people on it?

TMK, you cannot network the Scientific Atlanta box, at least like a TiVo, to digitally pull recordings from it. You can record the A/V out to the TiVo or a PC capture device.
Having a bunch of people on a network to exchange copyrighted content doesn't sound right to me.

Do tell.... this seems like the workaround that might work. Can you elaborate at all. It is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It is pretty straightforward, you record the video playing from the old DVR onto your new TiVo, or a capture device on your computer.
