View Full Version : Disappearing Programs?

I have a Series 3 HD DVR with an expansion drive. I've had the unit setup for about 5 months.

Periodically, when I'm not watching television, I'll look at the front panel of the unit and notice which programs that it's recording. However, when I later go to watch the program, it's nowhere to be found!

The most recent example of this weirdness happened this morning. I had just gotten out of bed and wandered downstairs to make coffee. When I walked past the DVR, I looked at the front panel and noticed that the Woody Allen flick, "Annie Hall", was being recorded. Being a fan of this movie, I thought "great" and looked forward to watching it later. In the afternoon, I turned on the television and navigated Tivo to the wish-list that I had setup for Woody Allen. There were several other movies listed that had been recorded days or even weeks earlier, but no Annie Hall! WTF?!

I can think of no reason for this happening. To make things even more weird, it seems to happen to the same program, repeatedly. For example, what I described above for Annie Hall was the second time I've seen this happen for this particular movie. I also saw this happen with a recent showing of "Pulp Fiction". The problem doesn't happen often, but it does seem to regularly happen with movies that I really want to watch. On the other hand, it never seems to happen with content that I'm not that interested in! I know that sounds paranoid, but it really seems true!

Any ideas are welcome.

I bet that if you go to the recording history you will see a message that it didn't record because of power loss. It is a bug and happens even though power was never lost.

A restart should fix it (temporarily). I am having to restart every couple days to avoid it.

How do you review the recording history? I haven't seen that feature, yet.

Go to the To Do list, it's the first item..

Like mattack said, go to the main "Tivo Central" screen
Select "Find Programs"
Select "To Do List"
Select "View Recording History"
Scroll up, when you see one that says "Not Recorded", select it and it will tell you the reason why
