Not sure if this is the right forum to post this.

I currently have 3 tiVo's networked together. All our SD. My favorite is the Series 2 DT.

I just got a new HDTV. For now, I am not going to get an HD box from the cable company for it. So I am sure the TiVo will work fine with it since nothing is truly coming in high def.

We have an HDTV in the living room that has the Comcast HD DVR and we really hate it. The Comcast w/TiVo is not available in our area yet. Can't get the HD TiVo for that TV because it doesn't do On-Demand and that's about 50% of what my DH watches.

So right now I am against getting the Comcast HD DVR for the new TV. But if I do get an HD box, will the SD TiVo work with it when recording non-HD channels? And since you're usually viewing the TV through the TiVo, if you wanted to watch anything in HD, would it not be a true HD signal?

Also, with the comcast TiVo's, can you network them with the regular TiVos? Or do they all have to be the comcast version?

I am debating between that at some point if I should get the HD TiVo Series 3 or hold out for the Comcast version. Can you view OnDemand with the Comcast versions? I know I can live without it, but if they are ever available in our area my husband would probably switch his box out.

But I guess I just want to know if for now if I will be able to use my Series 2 DT with an HD box.

TIA

well, the tivo has no component input or dvi/hdmi input, so no you couldnt watch hd "thru" it, but what you could do is hook up the HD box to your TV on the component or HDMI/DVI output, and to your tivo using the RF or composite output from the box, an added benefit to doing it that wasy is that i dont think the guide/menu built into the moto box will show on the non HD output, but will show on the component or digital output. you WILL need 2 rca splitters for the audio if you use a combination of component and composite connections though as the moto boxes share the left/right audio outputs between sources.

the guide should show on all inputs on tv.

Not on an HD or DVR moto box it wont show thru the coax.

it must be something wrong with guide then I can view the Guide through coax on Cox in Omaha Nebraska.

HD, Comcast, TiVo and me - what should I do?

the title of the thread lead me to believe the OP has comcast.....

unless the firmware has changed to allow it all the time, you need to change the ypbpr output to 480i to show the guide thru coax (not sure about composite)

Ok read thru all these posts and didnt see this so if Im wrong I appolagize.

I too have 4 Tivo, 3 S2 and 1 S2 DT, and wondering with the Comcast Tivo is MRV still avaliable? Thats my one concirn with using the Comcast DVR box is I already have Tivo and cant transfer to the Comcast box, but If you can transfer to the new Tivo Comcast box then its a no brainer for me. Tivo S3 is just too much for me right now.
