Hi...
Now that I have upgraded to the HD TiVo, every show I record is unable to be transferred to my PC!! What's the deal with that?
Thanks...

Who's your cable provider? Technically it's illegal for them to encrypt network channels (i.e. CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, PBS and The CW) but for all other channels they have the right to encrypt the channel in such a way that it prevents you from using TTG. If your cable provider is encrypting the network channels then you should call and complain. However if they're encrypting the cable channels then there is really nothing you can do. TiVo is forced to adhere to this encryption standard by the people who approve CableCARD devices.

Same here, got my HD TiVo 2 weeks ago. I enabled it on the Tivo web site in "Manage my account" under "DVR Preferences". Check the "Allow Transfers" and "Enable Video Downloads". I've had a Series 1 for a long time, this Series 3 stuff took a little bit to get the hang of.

You're talking about something a little different. I believe that the original poster is saying that he can connect to the TiVo via TiVo Desktop just fine, but that all the programs have the red circle next to them and aren't allowed to be transferred to the PC. That's what I was basing my response on.
If he is in fact simply having connection issues, then those are usually easy to fix.

Hi...
I don't think it's the cable company blocking the shows from being able to be transferred. Each TiVo description of the show trying to be transferred says it's copy protected by the owner of the rights of the show. So this info is coming directly from TiVo so I guess I'm stuck with only being able to transfer shows from the TV Guide channel!!! Whoopee!!!!!!!

The copy protection flag is applied to the stream by the cable company. TiVo is required to obey it, but they do NOT have any hand in deciding what to block. They simply look for a flag in the stream and allow/block transfers based on that flag.
Seriously if you are unable to transfer network TV programs (i.e. NBC, CBS, etc...) then you need to call the cable company and complain. As I said before it's actually illegal for them to apply any sort of copy protection to those channels. And they're really only suppose to be used on high risk channels like PPV and HBO, not every cable channel.
At one point Comcast was doing this to all their subscribers. Enough people complained and they actually removed the protection flags. So complaining could really better your situation.
