Length of Transfer Misreported

I transfered a bunch of shows from my TiVoHD to my PC. My HD shows worked, but I also transferred a bunch of SD shows and they didn't. They're all episodes of Psych from USA. They downloaded completely, but Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center both report the files as 21 minutes long when they're really an hour. Which means, after 21 minutes, I can't pause or FFWD because WMP will get confused and start the playback all over again.

Every one has this problem. Pertinent details:
USA Network
TiVoHD
Cablecard
TiVo Desktop 2.5.1
Windows Vista
The recording is digital, not from an analog source (because I have cablecards, all the channels, even in the "analog" tier, are actually digital)

Sounds like a codec issue.

This happens sometimes for me depending on the soft player I use and I agree with Mr Burns that it likely is a codec issue. For example when I open a ts in VideoReDo it always reports the correct duration, while when I use Elecard Mpeg Player, it sometimes reports only like 14 minutes for a 42 minute show, for the same file. VRD uses internal codecs and is not DS based, while Elecard uses its DShow codecs.

I am in all likelihood using a codec that came with my PC (Tivo Desktop doesn't come with one, right?)

How do I get a better one?
