My DVR doesn't recognize my PC consistently. At first I thought the problem was my router but then realized that I had changed the location and name of "My Tivo Recordings" to "Tivo Recordings" and moved it to a drive with more space. I renamed it to the correct directory name but it still didn't appear. Once I put a .tivo file in the directory it did appear but when I added an mp4 file it disappeared and hasn't reappeared since. I've restarted the TivoServer and rebooted my Tivo to no avail. I've tried to manually add a server but it doesn't work. Occasionally the system will see pictures and music on my PC but then it seems to disappear. Any ideas?

Have you tried disabling your PCs firewall software?

I have been having the same problem too, it started this past weekend. I would go into my "Now Playing" list and I would not see my computer that was running the TTG Desktop server. I have been running TTG 2.5.1 for about 3 months with non problems until now. I can publish photos and music and transfer shows from the TIVO to my PC, but can not transfer shows from my PC to the TIVO. I have disable the firewall on my PC and my router and still not change. I have unistalled and reinstalled the TTG Desktop software and still no change. Any help to try and solve this issue will be appreciated.

If everything else works then it's not a network problem. One thing some people don't realize is that you have to have at least one .tivo or .mpg file in the My TiVo Recordings folder or the computer doesn't show up. So if your My TiVo Recordings folder is empty then your PC will not show up in your TiVo's Now Playing list even if everything is working fine.

That was one of the things I made sure I had was .tivo files in the folder. It is strange that it was working and not it is not and I have not deleted any files that were in the My Tivo Recordings folder.

Have you tried pulling the plug on the TiVo and allowing it to reboot. Maybe it's a software hangup of some sort.

Yes I rebooted the Tivo and rebooted my pc at the same time. Also to make sure I wasn't having a problem with my pc I installed a new hard drive and reloaded windows and just the TTG Desktop software and it still did the same. My Tivo's are as follows: 2 series 2, 1 series 3 and 1 HD, and I am having the problem on all of them. All the Tivo's see each other and can transfer between them. I can transfer shows from the Tivo to the PC, but, even with .tivo files in the "My Tivo Recordings" folder you do not see the computer in the "Now Playing" list. Very strange.

Try this... Right click the TiVo Server icon in the tray and select TiVo Server Properties. Then go to the Access Control tab and try setting it to "Full" and see if that helps. Also on the bottom of the Configuration tab make sure that it's using the right network adapter. Sometimes when a PC has two network adapters (like one wired and one wireless) the server can get confused and try to use the wrong one.
