I am having this weird issue. I have a S3 Tivo and Tivo Desktop Plus (on a Vista machine). I am transferring files from the S3 to my desktop (so I can watch shows in my home office!) and I have noticed that on a couple of the HD programs, that when I try to watch them, they are loaded into Windows Media Player, but the time allotted instead of the proper time (~1 hour) I only get ~16 minutes. But if I view it I will get the whole hour, but after minute 16 the slider is all the way to the right of Windows Media Player. So not a big deal, but if I pause the show after minute 16, it restarts it, and I can't restart it in the right place because the slider will not go past minute 16... Needless to say very very annoying... I think that it is a mess up of the transfer at the very last moment but I don't know. Anyone else have this issue or a solution?

Windows Media Player uses DirectShow to play video files. In DirectShow the length of the recording is reported to the player by the demultiplexer filter. When you have TiVo Desktop Plus installed the demultiplexer for .tivo files is always the Main Concept demultiplexer, which apparently has some issues. Unfortunately I just tried everything I could think of to get rid of the Main Concept demultiplexer, but I couldn't. The TiVo source filter appears to be hard coded to use that demultiplexer no matter what when Plus is installed. When I tried simply unregistering the filter .tivo files simply refused to play.

The only thing I can suggest is that you run the offending programs through a decoder such a DirectShow Dump, tivodecode or VideoReDo and convert it to a standard .mpg file. This will allow WMP to use different filters and could produce better results.

Wow, thanks for the explanation. I've seen several threads about VideoRedo, where would I be able to find it?
