I upgraded my Toshiba TX20 with a 250gb hard drive using Instantcake, and am wondering if in the future I have any problems or if I want reset it, will I lose the expanded capacity, and then have to run instant cake again.

Also, was wondering if any InstantCake/Toshiba pros know if the free Basic Subsc. is lost when you use InstantCake for this model. It did not ask if I wanted to upgrade from free basic to Plus during Guided setup, so I am not sure if it will give me the free basic service. It did however immediately seem to work with full TiVo functionality with Season Passes, etc. Not sure if it just automaticaly setup the free trial of Plus and will downgrade later to the Free Basic.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Rich

The drive will always maintain it's expanded capacity.

The drive(actually the Tivo unit) will always maintain the free Tivo Basic. If you have a trial upgrade to Plus or a regular Plus subscription, it will be maintained for the subscribed period. Actually, all your subscription info is maintained on the Tivo corp. servers and downloaded to your tivo each time it connects for it's regular updates.

For all practical purposes(my own layman's opinion and experience), the drive will behave as an original stock Tivo drive once it has been successfully reimaged/expanded with Instant Cake, winmfs, etc....even after "resets".
