After spending an hour with a tech at tivo, I discovered that the problem is not my tivo, but with my computer files.

Here is the issue-- when I tried to publish music and access it on my tivo, I was seeing "no playable music in this file"-- but then I tried to follow the same thread on my computer and got the same message. I "got info" in itunes and followed that thread of where it was located, but it said there was no playable music.

I was able to access 2 songs on my tivo from a different file-- these were listed as mp3, but other songs within the same file that did not come up have different extensions.

I tried to export itunes to this file, but that came up as text.

Please help!!!

TiVo Desktop only supports plain MP3 files. If most of your music was purchased from iTunes, they are AAC-protected.

You can use Dan's TiVo Desktop plugin (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=295778) to play other media formats, but it still won't play DRM'ed files.

pyTivo will also handle other formats (non-DRM'd). I can't say whether it will play your files, because you didn't say what they are (other than "not MP3's").

Using what, though? iTunes? If so, they're probably in AAC format so you'd need Dan's plugin for TiVoDesktop.
