Since the Best Buy store near me just opened there new Apple store inside
and are offering 18 month financing, I am going to buy a new iMac that has
airport installed, and I want to have a wireless network with the iMac and the
Tivo unit I have, what else do I need to buy to do this.
I understand that I can transfer shows I recorded on my tivo to my
computer and make dvd's. So I guess what I am asking is what hard wear
and soft wear do I need
any and and all input is welcome
Thanks for your help

I have been a long-time Mac user, and a new TiVo user but here are my experiences.
I assume you will have some kind of wireless router (Apple Airport, Linksys, etc.). I use Apple Airport and have had good success. Easy to set up and they just work for me.
As for software, if you want to use the Media Features of TiVo (TiVoToGo) you will need some kind of software on your Mac. I use Roxio Toast which includes the programs to transfer TV shows from TiVo to the Mac (TiVo Transfer) and Toast to burn DVD's or make iPod compatible versions. I only use Toast to make iPod versions, I am trying to eliminate DVD's from my collection. From what I've read here on TiVoCommunity, I understand there may be some difficulties buring DVD's of TiVo Shows right now, maybe someone else can address that.
In order to share your photos (iPhoto) and music (iTunes) on your TiVo you will need the TiVo Desktop sysem preferance (which you can download from TiVo).
On the TiVo (at least the TiVo HD, which is what I have) you will need the 9.2xxx version of the TiVo software. If it is not on your TiVo whan you purchase it (it wasn't on mine 2 weeks ago) it will automaticaly update or you can force an update.
Tha should just about do it, after I ahd all those things in place TiVo and my Mac worked great together.
I understand there is something else needed to transfer video from the Mac to TiVo, I have not done that yet.

I assume you will want to connect to the TiVo, as well as the Internet using wireless connectivity.
The Airport I was referring to was not the builtin airport hardware and software in the iMac, but the Airport Router such as:
http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/
or
http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/
If you want to connect to the Internet with your Mac and TiVo you will need a Wireless Access Point (a router) to connect everything together.
Maybe you already have a wireless router connected to your cable service, if so, that will work as well.
I hope this clearifies what I was saying about Airport Hardware external to your iMac.
Later,
Andy

To avoid confusion....The iMac you are purchasing has airport built-in...which means that it has wireless capability installed...Unless you already have one installed, you still need a wireless router for your network...I have two networks...one with an Apple Airport Extreme...and one with an Apple Airport Express...the Express works fine, but is an 802.11g (compatible with the 802.11N in the iMac you will purchase, but theoretically not as fast)(Airport Extreme is 802.11N)...You will need a wireless adapter for the TiVo...and the best for the TiVo is TiVo's own wireless G adapter...Since the network is as fast as the slowest component, I'd stick with the Airport Express and save yourself some money over the Airport Extreme...
