I'm running TIVO Desktop V2.5.1 on my Vista Ultimate PC. It has a 500GB External USB 2.0 HD. I've begun using this HD to store my TIVO Shows. The plan is to save a lot of shows on this HD, and keep my Series 2 TIVO relatively empty.

The shows transfer fine from my Series 2 TIVO to my PC HD. I use a Wired Ethernet 10/100 Network. I've set up Auto-Transfers, and TIVO Desktop transfers the shows into the "My TiVo Recordings" Folder automatically. Then I manually move the transferred files into Folders I've made for each show.

Windows Media Player allows me to find and watch any show I want from my PC. And I can transfer a show back to my Series 2 TIVO and watch the show on my TV.

BUT - On my TIVO "Now Playing List" I can see and select my PC as a source to watch shows. But although the TITLE of each show is visible, the EPISODE DESCRIPTION is not. This makes it real dfficult to choose the right episode of any series. And the GROUP feature does not work. Scrolling thru hundreds of individual episodes is a real pain.

I have not renamed any show. A typical file name is:
Monk - ''Mr. Monk Paints His Masterpiece'' (Recorded Feb 1, 2008, USA).TiVo

On my "Now Playing List" this episode is dislayed as: Monk Fri 2/1

What can I do to GROUP my shows, and display the EPISODE DESCRIPTIONS ?

You can do grouping if you use a different server, like pyTivo. TiVo Desktop won't do it.
